Instructor — Business Fundamentals

Overview

Delivers Business Fundamentals, BSF Systems' foundational “zero to hero” business course — financial modelling, Excel-based analysis, business strategy, and market analysis for early-career learners and career changers with little to no formal business background.

Responsibilities

• Deliver structured lessons in business strategy, market analysis, financial modelling, and Excel-based analysis to a mixed-experience learner cohort.
• Translate foundational finance and strategy concepts (unit economics, competitive analysis, basic financial statements) into practical, jargon-free instruction for first-time business learners.
• Design and grade applied exercises — e.g., a simple financial model, a market-analysis brief — that mirror real entry-level business-analyst work.
• Maintain and refresh course materials to reflect current business tools and practices.
• Give timely, actionable feedback to learners preparing for Business Analyst or entry-level entrepreneurial roles.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong command of core business fundamentals: financial statements, unit economics, market and competitive analysis.
• Advanced Excel and financial-modelling fluency — the course's primary working tool.
• Proven ability to teach foundational, often first-exposure material clearly to non-specialist adult learners.
• Strong facilitation and virtual-delivery skills.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field (required); MBA an asset.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in business operations, financial analysis, or management consulting.
• Prior teaching, corporate training, or structured mentoring experience required.
• Certifications an asset: CFA (any level), CBAP, or a recognized financial-modelling credential (e.g., CFI's FMVA).

Compensation

Per-cohort contract rate, commensurate with experience; BSF Systems' standard instructor agreement applies.
